FREE of charge. Our Byte-Sized book is AVAILABLE for download – Go grab your virtual copy NOW

First and foremost, we would again like to say THANK YOU! Thank you, to everyone who contributed, bought a copy, helped spread the word, or otherwise. It’s been quite a roller-coaster, and we enjoyed every moment of it.

“If You Want To Go Fast, Go Alone. If You Want To Go Far, Go Together”

This quote reminds us of the unexpected success of this first book release. The force of the community is strong. As it stands today, we’ve sold just short of 700 physical copies to countries all over the world. With another 200 copies that were distributed by other parties, like sponsors, IT companies, giveaways and such…

One Laptop Per Child

Just recently we received our first payment from Amazon KDP, meaning we will be making our first donation to One Laptop Per Child not too long from now.

Their mission statement, as per their website:

“To create educational opportunities for the world’s poorest children by providing each child with a rugged, low-cost, low-power, connected laptop with content and software designed for collaborative, joyful, self-empowered learning.”

When children have access to this type of tools they get engaged in their own education. They learn, share, create, and collaborate. They become connected to each other, to the world and to a brighter future.

More information can be found on their website: www.laptop.org/en

Please, donate extra!

Unfortunately, we need to pay income taxes over the money we have collected so far. However, we will personally chip in as well, partly compensating our tax “losses”. Anyway, since our book is now publicly available, free for everyone to download we don’t expect to sell a lot of physical copies from now on. That’s why we’ve included a PayPal donate button. This way, anyone who already owns a physical copy might consider donating a little extra.

Or…

If you don’t own a paperback version (it’s still possible to order the physical copy, here), please consider donating when you decide to download a virtual copy to show your support else ways. Just remember, it doesn’t help us, all the money goes to charity. Every extra penny helps.

Go grab it here, NOW!

We talked long enough now, so as promised – our Byte-Sized book free of charge. From the Community, for the Community…

Why this book? Throughout the year we spend a great deal of time studying, testing, fixing (and breaking) stuff, helping customers, colleagues, attending conferences, webinars, and so on.

It would be a waste to keep it all to ourselves, right?

After a period of 3 months, we received a total number of 152 submissions from all over the globe (20 countries), which we think is truly awesome. All together 140 people contributed.

Byte-Sized is our (small) way of giving back, in the form of Cloud-related design principles, architectural recommendations, tips, tricks, best and/or common practices, quotes, you name it.

Hopefully, everyone who picked up a copy will take something useful away from it in their journey to the Cloud.

All the best,

Christiaan & Bas.

What’s next?

Well, we don’t want to spoil anything yet, but don’t worry because this project is far from over! We just met up a few weeks ago and future plans are already in the making.

In fact, we have an upcoming meeting planned where we will discuss the details of our next endeavor. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Byte-Sized project if the community, meaning YOU, wasn’t involved.

We can’t wait to get started, expect to hear more soon. In the meantime, keep an eye on our personal Twitter accounts, @Brinkhoff_C, and @BasvanKaam or the following ByteSized websites/socials below, you’ll hear and read it there first.

For now, happy reading and we’ll meet hopefully soon, somewhere…

Again, thank you very much,

Christiaan and Bas.
