Find out about the brand new announcements Parallels has made in 2024 (including 2 new product launches) and why. As always, Chris will (attempt to) amaze and entertain in that “unique” style of his. At the same time, you’ll discover way more about where is Parallels is headed than before Chris stood up. You do not want to miss this. Arrive early to avoid disappointment.
Chris is one of those people who loves walking around and waving his hands about, talking to people about all sorts of things. Remote meetings have put pay to much of this, so E2EVC sees Chris in his natural habitat once more (watch out!).
At Parallels, Chris is an evangelist and a Principal Outbound Product Manager.
He spends time gathering customers’ and partners’ feedback and discussing with IT leaders about how their businesses are coping with fundamental shifts in working practices alongside rapid changes in the way services are being consumed; how organisations remain competitive in this environment and how they can deliver simplified, more agile services to allow them to do so.
Chris is proud to be an E2EVC Ambassador. He has lived many cat-like lives previous to this including a Technical Instructor, Solution Architect, Director of Strategy, Field Technologist and Field CTO.

The downsides of modern auth in DaaS: surviving Citrix FAS and SSO expectations
Let’s face the facts: modern authentication is becoming the de facto standard for any access strategy. It (typically) satisfies user expectations and todays’ security requirements the same way. But it’s not best of both worlds per se when attempting to remove legacy authentication from DaaS and CVAD deployments. Do you know about the why and how to deal with authentication flows to ensure smooth controlplane and worker operations? Multiple forest trusts? When to use FAS? How to make sure FAS even works under SLA and failure scenarios? Not to forget this “one more thing”: transitioning an existing environment and allowing side-by-side operations…

Carles Xavier Munyoz Baldó. I am passionate about technology and more specifically the sector in which I feel most comfortably : information technologies. Since I was a child I was curious about all kinds of electronic devices and I loved to open them in an effort to find out what they were made of and how they worked. My first steps in computer science were as a result of the classic video game of sticks to play tennis. From there I became interested in computers and acquired a 128K ZX Spectrum with which I started to make my first programs. I consider myself very fortunate to be able to work in what I like and very proud to have created a company (SOLTECSIS) in which our main line of business is based on Open Source (Free Software).

40 Minutes to Build An Azure Function App to...
Azure Function Apps are a relatively simple (and cheap) way to get into building serverless applications. But once you get into more applications that have more than a single purpose things can get tricky. Consider this session a turbo charged quickstart on building apps, with lessons learned in the field.
I will demonstrate how you can design and build a 'complex' Azure function app to monitor X in Azure on the cheap. What will it do? Nobody knows! I hope to find out in the next few months as well, send suggestions to @WillCodeForCheese on Twitter.
This will not be a deep dive into all the technology used (as that takes over 40 minutes), it is intended to serve as an inspiration for your own builds. We will talking about:
Azure App Service Plans
Storage Blobs, Tables and Queues
Security Avoiding bloated PowerShell modules, and what to do if you cannot.
How you can use Bicep for building Function Apps. Mixing languages
CI/CD with Github and Deployment Slots.
Ton de Vreede, Ton has worked in IT over 20 years, 17 of which in the user virtualization space. He used to focus on Citrix and RDS environment design and implementation, and has written several PowerShell scripts for anything related to EUC and virutalization. Splunk-less uberAgent? Use Azure Data Explorer instead!
Did you know that you can now use Azure Data Explorer (ADX) as uberAgent's backend? ADX can now be used as an alternative to Splunk, similar to Elasticsarch, for example.
Are you sure your endpoints are configured securely? Really? Would you even notice changed or missing security settings? You most definitely would with uberAgent Security & Compliance Inventory, which is now available for macOS, too.
The above examples highlight just two cool new features introduced with uberAgent 7.2. Join the vast limits team in this session for an interactive demo of all the shiny new things they added in the latest release.
Helge Klein, Helge (ex CTP, MVP and vExpert) worked as a consultant and developer before founding vast limits, the uberAgent company. A Deep Dive into Amazon WorkSpaces Thin Client.
The new Amazon WorkSpaces Thin Client improves end-user and IT staff productivity with cost-effective, secure, easy-to-manage access to virtual desktops. It reduces end-user computing costs and simplifies device logistics by shipping directly from Amazon fulfillment centers to end users or company locations. End users can set up a device in minutes, with no IT assistance. It also helps improve security by preventing users from storing data or loading applications on the local device, and includes a simple device management service. WorkSpaces Thin Client provides a console to centrally monitor, manage, and maintain devices and their connectivity to AWS virtual desktop services.
Sabrina Downard. Sabrina is a Software Development Manager on the team that launched Amazon WorkSpaces Thin Client in 2023, after spending 8 years wrangling systems, mime attachments, and infrastructure at Amazon WorkMail. Currently, Sabrina runs the team focused on the AWS services that manage WorkSpaces Thin Client, is active in operational excellence and sustainability efforts, and she enjoys mentoring and running employee-development programs for tech roles in Amazon.
Before joining AWS in 2014, Sabrina was primarily a systems admin and devops engineer working in education, media, fintech, and startups including internet service providers. She holds a bachelor of arts in Technology Leadership from DePaul University in Chicago, and multiple scars from mounting equipment in telco racks.
PowerShell GUI for CVAD – One Tool - Version 2.0
Using all the standard applications to monitor and manage the CVAD platform, from requests coming in to deploy Virtual Apps and Desktops to XenServer Hypervisor can be stressful. Wanting to limit the number of consoles to do my job as a Citrix Administrator, and automate as much work as possible,
I needed something else – so I build my own PowerShell GUI Tool Console.
A generic version of the GUI Tool will be shared at the session – giving back to the Community.
Brian Leffler Kruse, Brian is a Citrix Subject Matter Expert at Vestas Wind Systems A/S, working on delivering the best experiences and ease of access for the Users. Have worked with Citrix Applications and Desktops since Metaframe XP.
